Cigarette smoking causes a number of cancers. Smoking is the main cause of cancer of the lungs, kidneys, esophagus, larynx, bladder, pancreas and many others. It is important that one takes Help to stop smoking and get rid of this habit permanently. There are many people who do not succeed at the first attempt. But they should not get disheartened as the chances of success increases with each attempt. Each attempt makes the smoker bolder and determined. But one should not give up. Quitting smoking provides a lot of advantages to the smoker with respect to his health. In spite of the difficulties in quitting smoking, it is much better to quit than to give up and pursue smoking.

One of the common cancers caused by smoking is cancer of the larynx. It is caused due to the changes in the lining of the larynx caused due to prolonged irritation like cigarette smoke. It is largely found in male and they account to about 80% of every 2000 cases. It is found rarely in people who do not smoke. This disease is generally seen in people over 60 years of age. Hoarseness is the first symptom and hence if hoarseness persists for more than four weeks one must consult a doctor. It is sometimes accompanied by throat pain, ear pain or difficulty in swallowing. But cancer of the larynx can be treated if diagnosed early.

This disease is diagnosed by the specialist by examining the vocal chords with a special    mirror or telescope. The specimens of the tissue can be further examined by re-examining the throat under anesthetic. This disease is treated with radiotherapy.

Thanks for posting this. Have been hearing about this, but I do not think quitting from smoking is easy. Just like my father's case, he has been smoking since late teens up to now he is more than 60. I just noticed that cigars have affected most of his teeth and even the Crowns. He now wears dentures.

Tobacco cigarette is really very toxic and is harmful for not only lungs but throat, Heart and many other body parts so  we should stay away from it....
