I have a Colorado E-Smoke Original Kit and have been going through atomizers like crazy. In the last two days, have had to replace it THREE times because it was burning my throat, had an awful burning smell/taste and was driving me crazy. Every time I took it back, they admitted that the atomizer was bad but that didn't help my lack of nicotine and resulting crabbiness.
After coming home with the third NEW one, no real improvement and absolutely NO desire to get yet another replacement, I scanned the internet for posts to fix it on my own. I finally found something that worked for me and wanted to post it here. I doubt that this is a "new" solution, but maybe it will help someone in a similar situation.
Keeping the atomizer and battery connected (take off the cartridge), I put a small - really small - amount of e-juice directly on the atomizer thread. I then immediately blew through the LED end of the battery, which heated the atomizer and burned the liquid off. Making sure my cartridge was moist, I put the cartridge back on and drew (sucked) through the cartridge a few times without inhaling. It immediately eliminated the burning in my throat and went back to tasting normal.
I do want to point out that I have read on several sites that putting liquid on the actual atomizer thread can burn it out, so I don't necessarily recommend doing that often, I don't plan on doing it again, I did it to get that primer taste out of it the first time.
So far it has worked like a charm.
Also, the customer service at Colorado E-Smokes is phenomenal. Though I believe it's their product causing the issue, they are amazing at taking care of it. Debra at the Town Center Mall location, in particular, is awesome!
